Kitchen Flooring

Hi, It's been a while but we have been busy bees here this early Spring.

Our sad little kitchen with its bad floor, boring island, and potential goodness is getting a facelift.

After every surface and nook and cranny has been cleaned, scrubbed, sanitized....the work has begun.

We knew, when we bought this place that we'd be busy with a few projects, one of the biggest is the flooring in the kitchen and dining room.  Ick!!

After much deliberation, investigation, and prayer...we decided..or my hubby decided that doing it himself would be the way to go.

His new way of eating combined with all this work on this new dwelling and his working his butt off at his job has resulted in my incredibly shrinking husband.  about 15 pounds down now.  He's my handsome handyman around here.  anyway...sidetracked  teehee

We chose a vinyl product called Downs Luxury Vinyl Tile.  He did a great job!  I really love it.
Didn't want the stress of having a wood floor in the kitchen, but wanted the look.

I think we got what we wanted.

quite an improvement!

Another project that I'm tackling is dressing up this builder grade Island in the kitchen.

Using some found and reusable wood pieces and molding salvaged from the garage and dining room,

I'm having fun with the miter saw and box.

More on that a little later.

Since the floor is done now, I'm able to get a few displays put together using what I have.  Haven't really bought anything new as yet.

It's so nice to live around my stuff again.

We tend to surround ourselves with the items that spark memories and things that make us smile.

and when all those things have a good foundation like a stunning floor, they sing!

We are making it home around here.

More to come.

Blessings,
T

  2. Thanks so much for this awesome post! I love to see new flooring. In Phoenix it's next to impossible to do things yourself and it's way cheaper not to. I love that you did this yourselves though. It looks amazing!
