Happy Monday and the beginning of another week.
As I've said before, when we bought our little gem of a house, we had quite a task in front of us.
It was a mess, a hot mess!!
As you can see, from the pic below, The carpet in the master needed to be cleaned big time along with removing the strange chair rail that broke up the room and made it look so small. A new color scheme was needed as well.
So soothing moody gray walls with a touch of purple in the mix was the perfect wall color for me. I don't know if it's the new bed (our first bed we've bought in the 28 years we've been married by the way) or the restful mood the colors in the room create, but I'm sleeping so well lately.
Could be, I'm just exhausted!
The before in the dining room was not terribly tragic, but definitely not our style.
The carpet has now been replaced with a great vinyl plank wood look floor,
The chair rail is gone,
and the walls have been washed with a great sand color called Nomadic desert...thought that was an interesting choice considering our life of travel and moving around these past 6 years.
Do you have an idea for this wall in the DR? I do have an old fireplace mantel but I'm using it as the headboard for a single bed in the Grandbabes guestroom and I'm kinda liking it there.
Is it a piece of art?, What do you think? Ideas welcome.

I had a moment the other day where I HAD to create SOMETHING~ Just felt the itch and I knew our guest room needed something above the bed so I found some wood pieces in the garage leftover from the previous home owner.
I cut them to size, put them together, and got out the stencils.
Here was the result...
My hubby's retirement dream has always been to run a BnB and showcase his cooking and hospitality gifts so this is a nod to his dream.
It says..."The Cottage at Lawver Haven Bed and Breakfast"
Looks good above the bed.
Couldn't stop there. Found a square canvas and I've been dying to try this since I saw it on Pinterest.
A canvas, Elmers glue a free hand design, let dry and.....
after a coat of leftover glossy paint, it is a sweet textural splash of color in the master bath.

Another canvas became a quick, pinterest inspired, project that says it all for me right now.

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day.
I have had this little photo booth strip of photos that I've saved and transferred from purse to purse for years.
This is me and my babies from many years ago.
I love being their Mom and they've blessed me so much.
ahhhh, memories
Blessings,
T

Oh my goodness!!! Everything looks so BEAUTIFUL, T!!!! I would go with a huge weathered, patina copper barn star on that wall. The barn star also has a history in PA. ♥ I bought mine from an artist I found on the internet. He does beautiful work. If you're interested, give me a holler and I'll email his link. :> )
ReplyDeleteKarin, I love those stars. Have one on my front porch. Good idea! Thanks yep, send me the link for sure :)
DeleteHere you go, darlin'. http://www.thecopperstar.com/ About 8 years ago I bought a 4ft in an antique finish. ♥ Look under "Custom Photos." I was the only one who hung it on my vaulted ceiling. ((giggle)) But it now resides in my living room. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love what you are doing with the house. It's looks great. Also love Pintrest for inspiration and motivation. In keeping with the B & B idea, how about a "special of the day" written on a chalkboard in the kitchen? I've seen some that are really cute. Take care and have fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
